While we were prodding around the yard trying to locate our septic tank (I don't even want to tell you THAT story) we hit something about 2 inches under the dirt. We had hit this shallow hard spot once before. So we starting lifting the dirt. It almost peeled back like cut sod. After a few hours of work Clay unearthed a brick patio about 12' by 15'!!! It is right where he had already built a brick fire pit. It is close to the pool and a perfect spot for sun chairs, something we haven't had since the pool only has about a 2' concrete boarder and our patio is in the shade. We were so excited!

And is it spring yet??? I am SO ready to start playing in the dirt! After Clay dug out the patio, he was sweet enough to dig a hole for our first Dogwood tree! It is a white one and was a birthday gift from my parents. I hope to have 2 more planted by this time next year, one pink and one red. Clay also dug a hole for a Hydranga that I planted the next day. It was part of one we had at our old house which broke off when we were moving it. My Mom planted it for me and has been holding it ever since. This weekend I'm hoping things will dry out enough for me to be able to blow the leaves off of our front flower beds to get some air and sun to the stuff already coming up there. It is also time to start weeding. It is a never ending battle, but I actually kind of enjoy it. It's my quiet time in the garden. Here is a picture of Deuce with our Dogwood tree. :)
